PrintThe week of July 10 will include gatherings of Jurisdictional Conferences across the United States in United Methodism and the election of 15 new Bishops.

The Virginia Conference is a part of the Southeastern Jurisdiction, and this conference (SEJ) will gather at Lake Junaluska, NC this week and will be electing 5 new bishops.  Virginia’s Bishop, Young Jin Cho, will be retiring at the end of the summer, and Virginia will be receiving a new bishop.  That assignment will be announced Thursday evening.

Pastor Beth is a part of the Virginia delegation of 22 clergy and 22 laity elected to represent our annual conference at the SEJ. Please keep the entire delegation in your prayers. This is a critical time in the life of the church.  As Virginia’s Bishop and Cabinet wrote this week, “This is a high and holy process with important implications for ministry throughout our denomination.  The men and women who become bishops are asked to lead with a steady reliance on God’s grace and Holy Spirit as they shepherd the Church in its ministry to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
