Welborne will be partnering with Ridge Elementary and our food pantry this year to provide Christmas gifts for children in our neighborhood.

Beginning Sunday, November 27, snow people will be available on display in Nave Hall for you and your family.  Each snow person represents the wishes for one child.

Gifts are to be returned UNWRAPPED by Friday, December 9.

All are invited to join us for a wrapping party on Saturday, December 10, from 10 until noon.  Volunteers are also invited to join us for gifts delivery to Ridge Elementary on December 13, and at the pantry on December 15 or 19.

Thanks to Denise Oubre, Liz Svatos and Susan Tignor for coordinating this year’s project.

Some have asked why the decision was made not to partner with Asbury UMC in Churchill.  The pastors of the two congregations had conversation earlier this year.  While the partnership has been fruitful in getting presents to children whose parents are incarcerated, there was a second part of the partnership–encouraging those families to connect with Asbury UMC as a faith community.  That part of the project has never borne fruit, and the discernment was made to shift the focus for both congregations.  Welborne will focus for this season on those in need within our own neighborhood.
