Therefore Go-color logoThe United Methodist Council of Bishops has requested that each conference set aside one day to hold a 24 hour prayer vigil for the upcoming General Conference to be held May 10th through the 20th in Portland, Oregon. The vigils began on January 1st and will continue until the start of the conference on May 10th. Bishop Cho has selected April 10th as the Virginia Conference Day of Prayer. The Butterfly Prayer Partners are inviting all members of Welborne to participate in this call to prayer by pledging to pray during a 30 minute segment on April 10th. A sign-up sheet with designated time slots is posted on the wall in Nave Hall. Suggested prayer topics that can be used as a guide are also posted for those who would like one. Participants can pray at a spot of their own choosing.

Approximately 850 delegates from all over the world will be attending this conference which takes place once every four years. The General Conference is the top policy-making body of the UMC and will meet to “consider revisions to church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues” in addition to approving plans and budgets. Please commit to taking 30 minutes out of your day on Sunday, April 10th to pray for all who will be attending that each delegate will be open to hearing God’s voice and direction.
