For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me. I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me. Words of Jesus Christ, Matthew 26: 35-36, 40

We live in a hurting and broken world.  At Welborne Church we strive to live out Jesus’ commandments through these mission activities and more.

  • Through CARITAS we feed, shelter and befriend 30 homeless guests two weeks per year.  We support CARITAS’ Works job training program for unemployed and Furniture Bank to make new homes with used furniture.
  • In partnership with Bon Secour’s Care-A-Van, we provide facilities for health care providers to give free health care services to the people in our community that have no public or private health insurance.  This is open to everyone.
  • With Prison Fellowship Angel Tree © and Asbury UM Church on Church Hill, we serve more than 100 children of incarcerated parents with a Christmas Party, food and presents,  visit with Santa and telling the Christmas story of Christ’s birth.
  • Through our United Methodist Conference giving, we connect with other UM churches in regional and worldwide missions.  Each summer we send a mission team in the US to help with home repair.  In 2015 and 2016 we have gone to McDowell County, West Virginia.
  • Welborne is a weekly meeting place for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous in their work of recovery.

In the past year, over 200 members and their friends helped be the compassionate, loving hands of Jesus Christ ministering to a hurting and broken world.  Welborne is a place for you to belong and to make a difference in the world!
