Missions

For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me. I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these children of Mine, you did for Me. Words of Jesus Christ, Matthew 26: 35-36, 40

We live in a hurting and broken world.  At Welborne Church we strive to live out Jesus’ commandment to love through these mission activities and more.

  • Our Food Pantry is focused on a ministry of hospitality, and feeds over 4,000 people every year.  We are open Monday evenings and Thursday mornings.
  • Each year at Christmas we assist families in our community through a partnership with Ridge Elementary School.
  • Through our United Methodist Conference giving, we connect with other UM churches in regional and worldwide missions.
  • Each summer we send a mission team in the US to help with home repair.  In 2017 and 2018 we have gone to Roanoke Virginia, and also assisted in disaster relief near Appomattox.
  • Welborne is a weekly meeting place for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous in their work of recovery.

In the past year, over 200 members and their friends helped be the compassionate, loving hands of Jesus Christ ministering to a hurting and broken world.  Welborne is a place for you to belong and to make a difference in the world!
