The Bible tells us that God has given each of us spiritual gifts, and we are to use those gifts in God’s kingdom. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to know your gifts, so you could be serving in the ways you are supposed to serve? Gifts such as administration, helping, encouragement (and 18 more) help us understand how we are to serve in our areas of passion in the Kingdom.
For instance, someone who is passionate about teaching children about faith and has the gift of administration might coordinate registration for Vacation Bible School.
Or, someone who is passionate about feeding the hungry, but very shy, and has a gift of helping might be willing to shop for the food pantry. A person with the gift of encouragement might volunteer at the pantry to interact with clients.
How do we learn our gifts? By taking a Spiritual Gifts Assessment. Welborne uses the assessment found in Serving from the Heart, by Carole Cartmill and Yvonne Gentile. You can click here to access this assessment online at the Ministry Matters website. You will have to register for the site (it’s free!) to take the assessment. Ministry Matters is administered by the United Methodist Publishing House.
How do we connect our gifts at Welborne? By meeting with Joy Crawford, Director of Youth and Adult Formation, to find a good fit! Complete the form below and let us know you want to contact Joy.
